The inaugural Drawing Circle outing was held among the creekside oaks beyond our back gate, on a cool but clear January day in Southern California. The Circle guests were Don Gray, Kevin Allen, and Beth Orsa. Kevin and Beth are former students of mine, and Don is a neighbor, friend, and artist. My kids - Madeline and Harrison - were also in attendance, watching the artwork take shape and splashing in the creek with equal interest.
Don was the sole painter among us, completing a small oil-on-masonite while rest of the group stuck with drawing media of various types to capture the scene of sun-on-oaks. After enough fun outside, we retreated to the warmer confines of the house for discussion and way-too-strong coffee (sorry folks!). A great day to connect, stoke the creative fires, and have fun all at the same time. Stay tuned for the time and place of the next Circle.

Congratulations on the launch of "Drawing Circle," Steve. I enjoyed the first get-together and look forward to the next. Great idea to set up a blog for it.
